The Ultimate Guide to Dental Implants in Thailand

Combine your annual holiday with a trip for your dental work and take the sting out of the cost. Dental implants in Thailand will save you, on average, more than 60%. Let Dental Departures show you how.

Why have Dental Implants in Thailand?

For dental patients Thailand has a diverse natural environment with a multitude of national and marine parks to visit. There are plenty of ways to see its natural wonders including trekking, mountain-biking and horse-riding. Alternatively, there are plenty of quieter activities, including historic temples or, of course, its incredible beaches.

Although some dental implants can be carried out in one visit, the majority of patients require two trips to complete the procedure. Some patients who do not have sufficient viable bone to support an implant may even require a third visit to have a bone grafting procedure. Each stage usually requires a healing period of between 3 – 12 months, and so it is possibly to factor in the cost over a couple of annual holidays in order to secure the maximum savings.

For patients worried about the quality of dental implant in Thailand, there is no need. Providing you choose a reputable clinic your dentist will be as highly-qualified and skilled as your dentist at home. Dental Departures gives you access to quality-checked dentists and you can check their qualifications, see clinic photos and read real patient reviews on our site – all for free. Booking through us does not cost you anything.

Many of our dentists are members of professional organizations in Western countries, as well as being signed up to international organizations such as the International Congress of Oral Implantologists

Probably the best method of replacing missing teeth, dental implants in Thailand are a much more affordable option for patients who cannot afford the prices at home.

How long do Dental Implants take in Thailand?

The dental implant procedure is made up of the implant itself, an abutment and a crown. The implant is inserted into the jaw bone and acts in the same way as a tooth root. The crown is a false tooth and the abutment joins the crown to the implant.

The implant is inserted on your first trip, unless you need a bone graft which will be done on the first trip. The implant is inserted in one day but your dentist will need to check everything is fine with it before you return home, so you may have to be available for around 5 days.

Your next trip will take place between 3 and 12 months later. This is so the bone and implant fuse together in a process called osseointegration, which provides a stable base for your crown. The abutment and crown are placed on this trip and you will require 7-10 days so your dentist can check everything is as it should be after the placement.

What is the cost comparison of Dental Implants in Australia and New Zealand to Thailand?

A titanium dental implant, abutment and standard crown is on average around AUD $3,800 in Australia, but in Thailand is AUD $1,480. For patients who require multiple dental implants the savings are particularly substantial in Thailand.
