This popular Mexican resort is the perfect destination to re-charge your batteries, with miles of palm trees, sand and crystal blue waters to relax by. Cancun is packed with wonders, from its generic Mayan culture, ancient ruins and underground rivers, to a whole host of modern facilities that include imposing hotels, impressive restaurants, stylish bars, glitzy shopping malls and chic boutiques.

This Mexican city has a well-deserved reputation for being friendly and hospitable, and dentists in Cancun are now earning global recognition for their superior, low-cost dental treatments.

How Much Can I Save on Dental Care in Cancun?

Compared to prices in the United States and Canada, you can expect to save anything from 50% to 70% off the cost of your dental treatment by making the short trip across the border into Cancun.

Exactly how much you save will depend on what kinds of dental crowns treatment you undergo, and which clinic you choose to attend.

As a general guide, if you get dental crowns in the US you’d expect to pay around USD $1,164 (CAD $1,460; AUD $1,483; NZD $1,622; GBP £881; EUR €990).

Undergoing the same treatment at a dentist in Cancun, however, will only cost an average of USD $500 (CAD $627; AUD $637; NZD $697; GBP £378; EUR €425). This is a saving of around 57%, and it’s worth remembering that these prices are per crown, so if you require more than one, the cash saving can be quite substantial!

What Do I Get for My Money?

Getting dental crowns in Cancun, or anywhere else for that matter, usually requires two visits to complete the treatment. This is because there will be a necessary waiting period for the crowns to be manufactured to meet your exact specifications and requirements. In some clinics where they have their own on-site laboratory, this can be achieved on the same day, but if your crowns have to be manufactured off-site, there will be a delay of anywhere between a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

Either way, your initial visit will last for around an hour and will involve your dentist preparing the tooth question by shaping it to receive the crown correctly. Impressions will then be taken which will be used to fabricate your crown, and a temporary crown will be affixed whilst the manufacturing process takes place.

When your new crown is ready, you can return to your dentist to have it permanently attached. It should be noted that the cost of the crown will be dependent upon the material that is used in the fabrication process, as there are generally 5 different types to choose from:

1. Resin
2. Ceramic (porcelain)
3. Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM)
4. Gold alloy
5. Zirconia
