For those of you who want to read a detailed account of my experience at Perfect 32; read below. For those skimming through- I whole heartedly must urge you not to go to this clinic and please be EXTREMELY careful when choosing a dentist outside of your home country.... I trusted in this woman and my teeth and gums are in very very bad shape now. Do your research and then research some more!!! A personal recommendation is always best. A lot of reviews on these sites are fake. Good luck. I am from New Zealand and travelled to India to get a Smile Makeover and enjoy a holiday. I chose India because I had heard good things, read some great sounding reviews, and the costs were significantly lower than having the work done in NZ. I chose Perfect 32 based on the reviews on this website, thinking it would be a reputable source of recommendations. I emailed a few other dentists during the enquiry stage also and Dr. Sandhya's response seemed to be the most thorough and "professional" so I travelled to Bangalore and convinced my boyfriend to "seize the opportunity" to get some dental work done too, while we were there. I arrived in Sandhya's office intending to get 13 crowns (all of the front- 6 upper and six lower) and a root canal finished with a crown on a molar.. I had an extra incisor and during the consultation Sandhya said "no problem, we can keep the extra tooth and join two teeth under one crown to give you 12 crowns on the front and a symmetrical appearance. I arrived in her office and she wanted to get straight into it, there was about 5 minutes of greeting and looking and then she was ready to start the procedure. I was a little bit in shock as this was a serious procedure... drilling down 13 healthy teeth, giving me a whole new look... and she never once asked me about my visual preferences eg. shapes, colours, what to expect etc... but in a daze I went along with it and we began the work. I was told the whole process would take 5 days. Luckily I allowed 21 days (we needed it!!!). Everything seemed normal to me until the crowns arrived from the lab ready to be cemented. They were asymmetrical, there were 13 crowns instead of 12 (as promised initially) and the colour was DARKER than my real teeth!!! Alarm bells began ringing for me when Sandyha tried them on my teeth and said "yes they look very good lets cement them" and thank god, my boyfriend was there to stand up for me and say "wow no no no, they are totally the wrong colour, they look like smokers teeth, you haven't even done a colour match, some of the shapes are wrong etc...". It is hard to express without you knowing this dentist but her style is authoritarian and dominating and as a patient full of nerves, doubts, adrenalin and a mouth full of anaethetic, I was susceptible to really at risk of believing whatever she said, as she was supposed to be the "expert"... right??? So *thank god* I had a second opinion who spoke up for me or I would have wonky, yellow teeth, along with all the other problems... (coming up...) So to cut a long story short, I asked to visit her lab technician. He did not know how to colour match my teeth and gave me a sheet of shades, saying "pick whatever one you like"... I was really shocked by this but in my naievity I just chose the colour I thought looked best... Two appointments later, having the teeth shapes still not looking right, I went in and Sandhya once again tried the crowns on. I pointed out two teeth that I wasn't happy with. #1. was an incisor. It was shorter than it's matching incisor on the other side. I asked for it to be changed. - Sandhya said "I think it is fine and I can't do anymore on it, this is the best we can do, it's fine". #2. A canine had a different angle to the rest of my teeth- it protruded slightly more from the gums and did not have a natural angle. Sandhya said "I think you are overanalysing it... if it bothers you once I cement it, I will file it a bit to make any adjustments".... If I had done my research and wasn't so sick of waiting (after 6+ appointments and the excruciating sensitivity every time she tried the crowns on) I might have stopped her but I stupidly trusted this woman and let her cement the crowns. Not only that... she is a real sales woman, I must commend her for that. She convinced me to also get an implant. AND she convinced my boyfriend to go from getting two crowns to getting FIVE... AND she tried to tell him he urgently needed four more on his back molars as they were "wearing out" but we did not have the money so left it. I left Bangalore feeling ok about it. I was not entirely happy with how it all looked but it was a vast improvement on my previously crowded teeth. The bomb dropped when a month later, my crown on the implant she had put in came loose, then while I was brushing my teeth, it fell off. I was in a village travelling in Nepal and had to wait ten days to see a dentist in the UK. When I got there I was devastated to be told that: The crown on the implant was incorrectly fitted, too shallow and too loose for the space. I needed a new crown made. Every single crown she had fitted in the front (13) was incorrectly fitted. The margins are not fitting, the angles are off. They are OVERHANGING RESTORATIONS in dental terms.. so the crowns do not smoothly merge with the gums, instead they catch, so food can get stuck in the gaps and the gums fight the infection by receding. My gums were full of CEMENT FLASHES... little pieces of cement stuck in between my gums, causing irritation and inflammation. The most upsetting thing was when the dentist showed me how Sandhya had filled a gap where a crown wasn't the right shape, to cover my underlying tooth. He explained that the cement had to be removed to prevent infection, and that hopefully the gum will grow down to cover the tooth... The icing on the cake is my boyfriend who got 5 crowns from Sandhya, is experiencing exactly the same problems. He too has overhanging restorations and very severe gum infection. It has now been four months. Our gums are swollen and sore. They are difficult to clean. When we floss, there is a lot of blood and some teeth are particularly tender. The gums around two of my teeth are already receding and showing gaps and it appears that the others are starting to recede too. I have to be extremely careful with my cleaning and pray that the teeth donot decay underneath. As soon as we have the money, we will be going to get the work redone somewhere. We have seen two dentists - in the UK and Switzerland, who have both urged us to get the work redone as soon as possible... The sad thing is we can't afford to and our insurance doesn't cover cosmetic work, so for now, we must work to maintain dental health. If you have more questions please feel free to email me helleweston@gmail.com But I urge you, save yourself the hassle and don't even consider this clinic. If you have made an appointment already, CANCEL IT! I emailed Sandhya about everything after the problems began and she first denied it, her defence being "that the other dentists must want my money and be coming from ego"... but she didn't address any of the problems I am dealing with, or the facts which are blatantly visible on an xray or upon examining. She then stopped emailing me back... No matter where you go. Do your research. Your teeth are precious. You will save money in the long run but going to a reputable place.
