diciembre 2024Thank God we found Dr. Lugo! We originally went to another dentist in Cancun for implants, crowns, and veneers, but the experience was a disaster. One of the implants failed completely, and another had bone growth over it. The previous dentist, who claimed he'd "never seen that happen before," used a drill to remove the excess bone, damaging the cap where the abutment attaches. After trying for two days to remove the damaged cap with various methods, he still couldn’t do it. The process left me in severe pain and completely frustrated. Thankfully, I found Dr. Lugo through a review on the other dentist’s page. I called his office, and he got me in immediately. Within just five minutes, Dr. Lugo successfully removed the damaged cap! By the next day, he had placed the tooth on the implant without any issues. Dr. Lugo explained that when implants are placed too deep, it’s common for bone to grow over them—but there’s a specialized tool (a "punch") designed to address this issue without damaging the implant. This reinforced my suspicion that the previous dentist lacked the proper expertise and tools to handle the situation correctly. Dr. Lugo’s professionalism, skill, and attention to detail have been a blessing. His office is impeccably clean, well-equipped with the latest technology, and staffed by friendly and knowledgeable professionals. From now on, Dr. Lugo will be my go-to dentist for all dental work. I can’t recommend him enough!

mayo 2024My wife had a very difficult case. We went to two oral surgeons and two implant specialists in the USA for their opinion, treatment plan, and cost. Their prices quoted were out-of-reach. She had extensive infection in her remaining teeth with a lot of upper jaw bone loss. We decided her best path forward was to extract all the teeth and to use temporary dentures for six months to get her healed up. Then from there we searched for a qualified and experienced oral surgeon all over Mexico. Her teeth were removed in Los Aldogones and that was the most painful part of her journey. They did a good job, but the area is sketchy and in an emergency there is no local hospital. We decided to look outside of the border towns and read a lot about dental tourism in Cancun. We reviewed nearly every oral surgeon there and we kept finding glowing reports about Dr. Lugo. He is highly educated and experienced, he reviewed her X-rays and explained in detail his treatment plan. I am an engineer so I asked a lot of detailed questions about the technique he uses, the materials he buys, the tools, software, and team members that would be involved. Dr.Lugo speaks English well and so does his support person Erika. They stood out far an above all the others, including the large, highly advertised offices with many doctors and dentists.. Erika made every step very clear, she met us at the airport, took us to and from our AirBnB and even to the store to buy food for the fridge. She was always available and reassuring. Lets fave it, going to a foreign country for a complicated and costly medical or dental procedure is stressful and a very hard decision to make. On our first trip, she had 11 implants installed, two were special and very long implants that go into the cheek bones. The fear of infection, especially for her was high as she had a history of infection and was also taking medications that reduce the immune system. The hospital was super advanced and clean. She had to pass several tests before she could get the green light for dental surgery. It took twelve days and all went exactly as planned. She did not experience any pain, a temporary set of dentures were made and we went back home for the four to six month healing process. The temporaries are large and bulky and not to be used for chewing which makes this phase difficult. None-the-less, it’s far better to heal than it is to rush the process and risk losing any of the implants. After five months, we had one of the highest rated dentists in our area give her an exam, and take a panoramic X-ray. He told us whoever fid the work, did an excellent job and everything was healed up and she was ready to have teeth made. We asked for the price and again, it was 100% more here in the states. We set our trip back to Cancun and in nine days she was transformed from a very sad and embarrassed women, unable to eat or speak correctly, and hiding her teeth, back to the happy, cheerful wife I had for the last fifty years. She looks and feels twenty years younger. We enjoyed our first steak dinner in over one year when we got back home. All I can say to anyone reading this is to not be afraid to go to Dr. Lugo or Cancun. We stayed downtown on the beach (not in the tourist trap hotel zone). We rented a car on the second trip with no issues. People everywhere we went were kind and courteous. The Google Translator App is a big help when you are out and about. My wife will post her own review, but she isn’t a big internet user. I will respond to your questions, but it seems everyone in the USA needs affordable dental and at least at this moment, Mexico offers good quality (if you know where to look) and is a much less expensive.

mayo 2024OMG where do I start!? Dr. Lugo is by far the best dentist we've ever had. My husband and I have been visiting Cancun to see Dr. Lugo for the past 8 years, whenever we need some major dental work. He is literally the one and only dentist we truly trust. He and his staff actually FIX the problem, NOT just slap duct tape on and hope you'll return soon to pay more money! We have returned again this week, however, to repair some shoddy work that an American dentist did! We both got several implants 8 years ago with Dr. Lugo and we are still super impressed that we haven't had any problems with them at all! I definitely recommend to anyone and everyone to go see Dr. Lugo because he and his staff treat their clients very kindly and they perform their dentistry work very efficiently and effectively. We will always continue to visit Cancun solely for Dr. Lugo's expertise and excellent quality workmanship!
