Of course, after dental work, you may want to take it easy and so you can top up your tan around the pool or at the beach.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots inserted into the jawbone with replacement teeth (crowns) on top. The treatment is an option for people who have lost their teeth due to gum disease problems, an injury, or some other condition that compromises a tooth or teeth. A dental implant is comprised of the following:

• Implant
• Abutment
• Crown

The implant is usually made of a titanium post that is lightweight, strong, and biocompatible. An abutment connects the implant to a crown or replacement tooth. The dentists in Kuta use top quality materials for their dental implants, and dental implants provide several advantages over leaving a gap:

Nearby teeth are not altered to accommodate the implant: One of the advantages of dental implants over other tooth restoration options, such as a crown and bridge is that nearby teeth are not altered and left completely intact.

Improve oral health: Evidence shows that dental implants improve long-term oral health, stimulating the jawbone which creates a strong and stable base for the implant.

Restore your facial features: The teeth support the soft tissues of the face. When teeth are missing, the resulting gap allows the facial tissue to sink into it, altering the shape of the face in a usually not flattering manner!

Improve your quality of life: A missing tooth can have repercussions for eating and chewing foot properly; it may affect your speech and your smile will be compromised. You may even be embarrassed to smile.

Am I a Good Candidate for Dental Implants in Kuta?

The dentist will determine if you’re a good candidate for implants. A comprehensive examination will be undertaken. This includes diagnostic tests like Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), which produces clear images necessary in the analysis of bone structure and tooth orientation.

An ideal candidate for the treatment should be in good general and oral health. You should have healthy gums free from gum disease, and adequate bone to support the implant. If you have suffered bone loss, you have an option to have a bone graft to restore the bone to make it viable for an implant.

How Do I Maintain my Dental Health with Implants?

Your dentist will give you instructions on how to maintain your teeth with implants. It’s important to continue your daily oral routine and visit the clinic for check-ups and teeth cleaning. Ordinarily, your dental healthcare routine should include twice daily teeth brushing, flossing, particularly around the implant, and regular check-ups and hygiene appointments with your dentist and hygienist.

What is the Procedure for Dental Implants in Kuta? How Long Do I Need to Stay?

The procedure for dental implants typically requires two trips to the dentist, but if you need a bone graft it might be three. The implant is carried out in two stages. For the first stage, the dentist first makes an opening in the gum to expose the jaw bone. A small hole is made in the jaw and the implant placed. The gum is stitched with dissolvable stitches and it will require three months’ for the process of osseointegration (where the implant fuses with the bone) to take place.

The second visit is when the false tooth (crown) is joined to the tooth by way of an abutment. This requires a stay of around seven days. The dentist reopens the gum again to expose the implant. The abutment is attached, which simply allows the crown to be attached to the implant. Once the implant is in place, the crown is placed on top, the gum stitched back in place and the procedure is complete.
