A dental implant is an artificial tooth root, normally made from titanium, that is inserted in the jawbone to hold a replacement tooth (crown).

After detailed planning and consultation to ensure healthy bone structure and absence of infection, a dentist uses four implants to support a fixed bridge in the upper, lower or both jaws. 

It is suitable for people with no or some missing teeth, and thanks to the unique positioning of the implants, does not require bone graft surgery.

What's Involved in This Treatment?

Prior to visiting your chosen specialist in Mexico City, it is a good idea to send digital X-rays via one of our coordinators; this allows the dentist to make an assessment as to whether you are a suitable candidate for the treatment. This will be subject to additional tests and evaluations upon arrival in Mexico, such as 3D/CT scans.

If you are deemed to be a suitable candidate, the planning stage of your treatment begins using the 3D/CT scans to accurately pinpoint where the implants are to be placed. Impressions of your mouth are also taken so your new prosthesis can be manufactured, ready for attaching on the same day of your procedure. 

The day of surgery involves:

• Administration of local anesthesia and sedation (conscious)
• Extraction of any remaining teeth
• Insertion of the dental implants
• Attachment of an immediate loading denture using abutments and coping cylinders

Patients are able to leave on the same day with the new, albeit temporary arch of teeth.

The healing period is usually around six months, when the implants fuse with the bone (osseointegration). During this time, patients will be asked to avoid hard foods.

The restoration can be completed during a follow-up visit to the dentist in Mexico City, with the temporary bridge being unscrewed and replaced with a permanent one.

Your dentist will inform you on how to maintain your “new teeth.” Observe proper oral hygiene–brush, floss, and rinse with mouthwash and get professional teeth cleaning regularly. With proper care, the permanent fixed bridge can last for many years.

The cost of the All-on-4® treatment concept depends on the type of replacement teeth, the expertise of the dentist and other factors.

Prices generally start at USD $9,773.75 (CAD $12,555.16; AUD $13,255.36; UK £6,736.07) in Mexico City, whereas the same treatment in the US can be upwards of USD $30,000.
