What Is the Procedure for a Filling? How Long Will it Take? 

The dental fillings procedure is relatively straightforward and is over in a matter of minutes for most people. Obviously, your dentist will first want to inspect your mouth to ensure that a filling is the right course of action. An x-ray may be taken to determine the exact location and extent of the decay. The dentist will talk you through the filling materials to seal the cavity and prevent further decay.

Most people tend to opt for tooth-coloured fillings these days, which are made of either composite or porcelain. The area is cleaned to remove any debris and bacteria and the filling gel is applied to the cavity and left to harden for a few moments. The tooth is then shaped and polished to complete the procedure.
