The Ultimate Guide to Dental Implants in Antalya

Make huge savings of 80% on dental implants in Antalya —the Turkish Riviera that offers sun, sea, sand and high-quality dental care you’d never imagine was possible for the prices being offered.

Antalya is, in many ways, the perfect location for British and Irish clientele who are looking for a dental holiday. It’s cheap, sunshine is pretty-much guaranteed and the locals are friendly. But, its holiday resorts retain much of their own identity by not being overdeveloped, and making the most of its ancient architecture unique and inspiring locations provide visitors with an experience that is unforgettable.

Why Choose Antalya?

There is something for the whole family along this stretch of coastline, including the mega theme park ‘The Land of Legends’ in Belek. Offering an all-inclusive experience of 5* hotel, a water park with 72 waterslides, splash cinema, river tours, dolphins, a shopping boulevard and family entertainment centre there is so much to do at this resort that anyone would be forgiven for not venturing out and exploring the other many attractions round and about.

And there is so much more, including the Lycian Walk, the footpath that winds around the coast from Antalya to Fethiye taking in some remarkable sights and stunning views; the ancient underwater Lycian city that you can clearly view from a glass-bottomed boat and a nocturnal trip to see the legend of the fire-breathing monster are just a few of the highlights. But even the more unique, smaller attractions, like Sandland, that showcases elaborate and intricate sand sculptures are well thought out and eminently interesting.

You won’t be short of things to see and do in and around Antalya when you are not at the dentist, that’s for sure.

Why should I get Dental implants in Antalya?

Getting dental implants in Antalya is certainly an option if you are looking for good-quality and value-for-money prices. The prices are low not because the quality is inferior, or the standard of dentistry sub-par, but because the cost of living in Turkey is a whole lot lower than it is at home. So, office rental, materials, wages and utility bills are less, which means those savings are passed on to you.

Dentists in Turkey are well-trained and there is no need to worry that they don’t have the necessary skills. Dental training and education is fairly similar throughout the world, and dentists in Turkey do five years at medical school before they graduate as dentists and then further training to become specialists (just like in the UK). Thus, you will find that implantologists in Turkey are just as likely to be members of professional organisations, such as the International Congress of Oral Implantologists as an implant specialist is at home.

Furthermore, you’ll see that the dental clinics are ultra-modern and well kitted-out with the latest technologies, including CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacture), digital x-rays and 3D/CT scans.

How Long is the Dental Implants Procedure?

The procedure for dental implants is a two-stage procedure (and in some cases three), which is important to bear in mind if you are considering going to Antalya (or anywhere else, for that matter) for your treatment.

The first thing to consider is whether you are a suitable candidate for a dental implant. If you haven’t lost your tooth through trauma or accident, then it may well be that you have periodontal disease, which is an advanced form of gum disease where the bone surrounding the tooth is lost, which means the tooth root has nothing to hold it in place, resulting in tooth loss. If your tooth is missing because of periodontal disease then you may need to have a bone graft to restore your missing bone prior to the implant procedure. If this is the case, you will then need three trips to complete the dental implant procedure.

However, ordinarily, the procedure will take two trips to complete. The first is to insert the implant. It’s a fairly straight-forward procedure where the dentist makes a small flap in your gum so they can access the jaw bone. A hole is made in the jaw and the implant inserted. The gum flap is stitched back in place and the implant is left to fuse with the jaw bone in a process called osseointegration for at least 3 months, but it could be up to a year. The implant is completely below the gum line so you won’t see it.

When you go back for the second part of the procedure, this is when the false tooth (crown) is attached. The dentist opens up the gum to expose the implant and attaches an abutment, which joins the crown to the implant. This protrudes beyond the gum, and the crown is placed on top, covering the abutment and looking like one of your own teeth.

Both trips will require you say in Antalya for between 7 to 10 days so your dentist can make sure everything is as it should be before you return home.
