Visiting Denpasar as a Dental Tourist

Denpasar is the capital of Bali, a major tourist destination and an important hub for getting around to other places of interest on the island.

It’s also within easy reach of beaches, like Sanur beach, where you can enjoy a spot of sunbathing or other activities such as snorkeling and kite surfing. Indulge in a massage and other spa treatments, or walk around and grab some Balinese handicrafts from local shops.

Although you’ll find plenty to enjoy a fantastic vacation here, you may want to arrange the more strenuous holiday activities pre-treatment as after your procedure your dental specialists will advise you to take things slowly during recuperation.

What Is the All-on-4® Treatment Concept?

As the name suggests, this technique involves the placement of four implants into each jaw with an attached bridge (immediate loading denture).

The slightly longer implants are inserted at such an angle to increase bone-to-implant contact, thus avoiding bone graft surgery for those who have suffered bone loss.

The procedure is an option for people who have lost their teeth due to an injury, gum disease, or other reasons.

Am I Suitable for the All-on-4® Treatment Concept?

This mouth restoration is a good option if you have already lost all, or most, of your teeth. If you do have any remaining teeth they will need to be removed, which can be carried out at the same time as your implant surgery.

Patients who do have bone loss may still be suitable for this treatment without bone graft surgery

It's also important to be in good overall health, and smokers will need to quit well in advance

What Are The Benefits of the All-on-4® Treatment Concept?

This treatment provides a number of benefits; for instance:

  • It’s a sturdy and firm replacement for your missing teeth.
  • The replacement teeth are made of top-quality materials that look and feel like your natural teeth, increasing function to 90%.
  • Since the procedure may eliminate the need for bone graft, it shortens treatment time and saves your money.
  • Dental implants can help to maintain healthy tissue in the jaw.
  • Only one session of surgery is required.

What Does the Treatment Process Involve?

Consultation and Planning:

Once it’s been shown the treatment is the best option for you, the process, costs, the type of restoration to be used and other important details will be discussed and agreed upon with you before treatment is started.

Careful planning is carried out prior to your treatment date to determine the exact place where the dental implants are to be inserted for optimal strength and stability.

The dentist will also take impressions of your mouth to send to the laboratory where your new arch of teeth will be made. These will be sent to your dentist before the planned date of your procedure so they are available to fit once your implants have been placed.

Treatment Day:

First, any remaining teeth will need to be removed.

The treatment involves inserting four dental implants into your jaw bone. Using abutments and copings, the new arch of teeth can then be attached.

The procedure should take around two hours for each jaw.

Note: After surgery, the implants will take around three to four months to fuse with the jawbone (osseointegration), while the gums and fixed prosthesis should also be protected. Thus, patients are advised to follow a diet of semi-solid/soft food during this time.

Patients return to the dentist in Bali after around six months to complete the final restoration

How Do I Maintain My Fixed Bridge & Implants After Treatment?

Your dentist will give you further instructions on how to look after your implants and a new fixed bridge. Practice good oral hygiene and visit the dentist regularly for check-ups and teeth cleaning to maintain them in tip-top condition.

Immediately following surgery, you should be instructed to use a special mouthwash for two weeks, avoiding any hard food until your permanent (final) restoration is completed.
