These titanium posts need to be surgically embedded into the jawbone at least four months in advance; once the gums have healed and the implants have properly fused with the bone, the patient then returns to the clinic to have the bridge permanently affixed to the implants.

It should be noted that during the four-month-long “healing period,” patients are given a lighter temporary denture to wear and are advised to only eat soft and semi-soft foods.

Once the final restoration is in place (also known as the “ prosthetic stage ”), patients can eat practically anything they want—without the need to soak dentures in a jar every night. 

This type of implant-supported fixed bridge is considered the optimal way to replace a mouthful of missing teeth as the device can prevent bone shrinkage, a common condition in edentulous patients.

However, just because it’s the best way doesn’t mean it’s the most common; for those living in countries where dental care is the most expensive in Europe, like England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Germany and Austria, costs can run between EUR 15,000 and a whopping EUR 30,000.

How Long Will I Need to Stay in Mosonmagyaróvár for Treatment?

As these are not “immediate load” implants, patients will need to make two trips to Hungary to complete their All-on-6 treatment, each around four months apart.

For each trip, you will need at least two appointments as a number of tests and evaluations will need to be made, as well as potential adjustments. Thus, each of these two stages will generally take between three and five days (minimum). 

Patients have the choice of staying in the town or, if driving, Vienna and Bratislava are approximately 30 minutes to an hour away via motorway.

How Do I Get to Mosonmagyaróvár?

Most patients arriving from Austria or Southern Germany tend to drive over the land border with Hungary, with the round trip often taking just a couple of hours.

If you are planning to drive, do check the current land entry requirements for Hungary, although applying for a formal visa in advance is not usually necessary.

The town also has excellent train and bus links to nearby regional cities.

Can I Fly to Mosonmagyaróvár? 

For patients travelling from the UK, Ireland or other Western European countries, the quickest and often cheapest way to reach Mosonmagyaróvár is to fly.

While the town does not have an airport, three major international airports are 30-90 minutes away:

• Bratislava International Airport—35 min (50 km) via M15 and E65/E75
• Vienna International Airport—1 hr (70 km) via A4
• Budapest International Airport—1 hr 40 min (193 km) via M1

Currently, direct flights run to the above three airports from London (Stansted, Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton), Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol, Luton, Birmingham and Dublin.

How Much Are Tickets?

Flight costs to Bratislava, Vienna and Budapest are notoriously cheap all year round from the UK, just as long as you don’t mind going with budget carriers like Ryanair, Wizz Air or EasyJet, offering return tickets from as little as EUR 50.

Expect to pay close to EUR 100 or more when flying with national carriers, such as British Airways and Austrian Airlines.

The town has a modest selection of guesthouses, boutique hotels and roadside motels, most of which are less than EUR 80 per night.

The top-rated choices on Booking.com, Aquasol Resort and Hotel Lajta Park, are both priced at around EUR 100 per night for spacious double or deluxe rooms.

Locals are also starting to take advantage of the town’s thriving dental trade by renting out spare rooms or even entire houses/apartments on Airbnb.
