About Jireh Dental Specialties

Jireh Dental Specialties is a traveler-friendly clinic in Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas—steps from the Progreso–Nuevo Progreso International Bridge on the Texas border. The clinic draws day-trippers from the Rio Grande Valley and visitors from across the U.S. Established in 2018, it’s less than half a block from the pedestrian crossing and close to shops, cafés, and the Progreso Market—ideal if you want efficient appointments and easy walking access.

Why choose Jireh Dental Specialties?

  • Border-easy: under a 2-minute walk from the U.S. pedestrian exit—perfect for park-and-walk trips from Progreso/Weslaco.
  • Consistent patient satisfaction: 4.92/5 from 54 verified reviews.
  • Modern imaging: panoramic X-rays and 3D/CT scanning support accurate diagnoses and treatment planning.
  • Broad scope of care: cleanings, fillings, crowns/veneers, dentures, implants (including full-arch options), root canals, whitening, extractions, bone grafts, and night guards.
  • Traveler-first scheduling: open every day from 8 a.m., with written plans that show steps, materials, and visit counts.

Treatments and technology

The team covers general, cosmetic, restorative, and surgical dentistry under one roof. Common treatments include exams and ultrasonic cleanings; tooth-colored composite fillings; in-office laser whitening and take-home kits; crowns and veneers (porcelain, zirconia, PFM); bridges; full and partial dentures (acrylic, metal, and flexible frames); extractions (simple and surgical/impacted); root canal therapy (including post/core build-ups); and dental implants—from single teeth to full-arch solutions such as implant-supported overdentures and implant-supported porcelain bridges. Panoramic X-rays and CT/3D imaging are available on-site to support precise planning. If terms like “abutment,” “overdenture,” or “post/core” appear in your plan, the team walks you through each in everyday language.

Location and getting there

You’ll cross at the Progreso–Nuevo Progreso International Bridge (Rio Grande Valley). Many visitors park on the U.S. side in Progreso/Weslaco, walk over with a passport, and take a very short stroll or quick local taxi to the clinic area. Typical drive times: ~25–35 minutes from McAllen (MFE), ~35–45 minutes from Harlingen (HRL), and ~1 hour from Brownsville (BRO). From San Antonio, plan roughly 4–4.5 hours; from Austin, ~5.5–6 hours; from Houston, ~5.5–6.5 hours; from Dallas–Fort Worth, ~7.5–8.5 hours, traffic permitting. Once you’ve crossed, taxis are easy to find; rideshare availability may vary by time of day.

What to expect as an international patient

  • Clear written plans: you’ll receive a simple outline of steps, materials (e.g., zirconia vs. porcelain), visit counts, and healing windows.
  • Time-smart scheduling: complex work like implants is staged (placement → healing → final teeth) around your travel dates.
  • Friendly logistics: your confirmation includes address details and a map pin; advisors can suggest border-friendly appointment times.

FAQs

1) What languages are spoken at Jireh Dental Specialties?

Nuevo Progreso serves many U.S. visitors, English support is common, but staffing varies by day. Ask your Dental Departures advisor to confirm the languages you need (for example, English and Spanish) for your appointment date.

2) Where exactly is the clinic and how do I reach it from Texas?

It’s in central Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas—less than half a block from the Progreso–Nuevo Progreso International Bridge. Most travelers park in Progreso/Weslaco (Texas), walk across with a passport, and either walk a couple of minutes or take a short local taxi to the clinic area. Your booking confirmation includes the exact street address and a map pin. If you prefer rideshares, availability may vary—taxis are typically the fastest option on the Mexico side.

3) What treatments are available?

General and preventive care (exams, ultrasonic cleanings), tooth-colored fillings, crowns and veneers (porcelain, zirconia, PFM), bridges, full/partial dentures, extractions (simple and surgical/impacted), root canals (with post/core when indicated), in-office laser whitening and take-home kits, diagnostics (panoramic and CT/3D imaging), night guards, and dental implants from single-tooth solutions to full-arch implant-supported bridges and overdentures.

4) Do treatments come with a warranty or guarantee?

Yes—eligible procedures come with written coverage. Ask your Dental Departures advisor to attach the clinic’s current warranty to your quote so you’ll know the coverage period, inclusions, and any aftercare (like hygiene visits) required to keep it valid.

5) What payment types are accepted?

Payment methods are confirmed on your Dental Departures quote. Many border-zone clinics accept cash and major credit cards; policies and any card processing fees can vary. If paying by card, tell your bank you’ll be in Mexico and check your daily limit and any foreign-transaction fees.

6) How many visits will I need?

Simple care (cleanings, small fillings) is often one visit. Crowns/veneers typically require a few days for preparation, try-ins, and final placement. Implants are staged: placement first, a healing phase, then final teeth. Your plan will outline visit counts and timing so you can book travel with confidence.

7) Do you offer All-on-4 or other full-arch options?

Yes. Full-arch solutions include implant-supported porcelain bridges (commonly 4–8 implants) and removable overdentures supported by multiple implants (e.g., 2–8). Your dentist will review bone levels with CT/3D imaging and discuss whether grafting or sinus lift is recommended before finalizing the plan.

8) Is sedation available?

Yes—IV sedation is available when clinically appropriate and is administered by an anesthesiologist. You’ll receive pre-op instructions (like fasting) and must arrange a safe ride back to your hotel after your appointment.

9) What are the clinic’s hours?

The clinic is open every day starting at 8 a.m., which helps travelers schedule early or border-friendly appointment times.

I highly recommend Dr Garcia Lopez. He did a complete evaluation and did a good explanation showing me the condition of my oral health with details so I could understand. He also gave me options in order my needs, suggestions and recommendations so I could decide based on pros and cons on every treatment and material. I felt very comfortable in every part of the process. On My experience it only took us about 3 appointments to complete my rehabilitation, I understand that I had to be patient because I know during these years I havent been taking good control over my oral health and I am glad that I went with Dr Jonathan. Now that I understand the importance of having a good toothbrush and a proper technique I'll be visiting periodically for my dental cleanings.
