Visiting Thailand as a Dental Tourist

Thailand is renowned for its medical and dental tourism services and with Dental Departures you can find the best prices at only the most trusted clinics offering this and other dental restorations.

This Southeast Asian country attracts tourists from around the globe primarily because of its natural, historical, and cultural sights. Thailand is known for its white sandy beaches, diving spots, tropical islands, and archaeological sites as well as shopping malls and local cuisine.

The south is where you can find some of its famous beaches while the northern part is great for trekking. Holidaymakers will be delighted to grab bargains in Bangkok’s shopping malls and night markets, experience traditional Thai massage, or attend a Thai cooking class.

There are any number of sights to see and activities to take part in, so arrive in good time before your implant surgery to make the most of it, as you will need to take things easy after treatment during your recuperation.

What Is the All-on-4® Treatment Concept?

The All-on-4® treatment concept is a procedure that involves the placement of four implants into the jawbone. It replaces all of the upper or lower teeth with just four implants.

The artificial tooth roots are placed at an angle, which increases bone-to-implant contact and eliminates the need for additional treatment like a bone graft. It’s an option for people who have lost their teeth due to injury, gum disease, or other reasons.

These implants can immediately hold a lighter arch of teeth; after around six months, patients return to the dentist to have their permanent restoration (a heavier, sturdier final fixed bridge) attached.

What Are Some of the Benefits of the All-on-4® Treatment Concept?

This treatment offers a number of benefits:

What Does the Treatment in Thailand Involve?

Note: You can send digital x-rays to Dental Departures who can obtain an initial assessment as to whether you are a suitable candidate for this treatment.

Once in Thailand, you will attend a consultation with your chosen dentist who specializes in the All-on-4® treatment concept. This involves a comprehensive examination of your mouth and jaw using sophisticated equipment like cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). The 3D images produce clear images necessary in preparing a treatment plan for you. A review of your medical and oral health history will also be taken.

Once it is determined that it’s the best option for you, impressions of your mouth are made and sent to the laboratory making your new teeth. You will return for the procedure, when the dentist will remove any remaining teeth, place the dental implants and attach your temporary new arch of teeth.

Note: After surgery, the implants will take around three to six months to fuse with the jawbone (osseointegration), while the gums and fixed prosthesis should also be protected. Thus, patients are advised to follow a diet of semi-solid/soft food during this time.

Patients return to Thailand after around six months to complete their restoration.
