Maintaining a healthy smile is an increasingly expensive business, especially for treatments such as dental crowns. However, thanks to dental tourism thriving in places like Pattaya, Thailand's boisterous seaside city, dental crowns have become much more affordable. The savings made can often cover your flights with a little spending money leftover!

A well-established holiday destination since the 1960s, Pattaya is geared up for Western tastes and needs, delivering not only the usual holiday amenities and conveniences but also expert medical and dental facilities that are on a par with those at home.

Only an hour and a half away from Bangkok, Pattaya is a decent base for exploring the laid-back islands dotted around its coast, which offer a peaceful antidote to Pattaya’s frenetic nightlife.

How Long Do Dental Crowns Take in Pattaya?

To a certain extent, this will depend on why you need a dental crown and whether you require other treatments prior to the placement of the crown.

Generally, you will probably want to schedule three to four days in total—with appointments at your dentist on the first day and last day, and the lab work to have the crowns made in between.

Impressions of your teeth are taken at your first appointment and the tooth receiving the crown is cleaned and shaped. The impressions are sent to the lab for the crown to be made. Your dentist may fit a temporary crown in the meantime to protect the tooth.

At your next appointment, the temporary crown is removed and your tooth will be given some final shaping before the new crown is permanently fixed in place.

Note: With new CAD/CAM instrumentation, your dentist can have you fitted with crowns in one sitting, provided there are no extractions.

How Much Can I Save on Dental Crowns in Pattaya Compared to Countries like Australia or New Zealand?

The size of the crown and the material will affect the cost. In Australia, average prices start at around AUD $1,100 whereas in Pattaya they are significantly cheaper at AUD $250.

Even Zirconia crowns will be less than a third of the price in Pattaya—costing only AUD $485 compared to AUD $1,500 in Australia.

Visiting Pattaya for dental crowns enables you to receive better quality materials at less than half the price of standard materials at home. Good quality materials can last as long as 15 years, making a trip to Pattaya for your crowns doubly worth it.
