Just like your dentist at home, dentists in Vietnam have access to the same materials and the same brands, and will deliver excellent quality, providing you choose a dentist who is reliable.
We always recommend that you do some homework on your chosen dentist – it’s much easier these days as the internet has a wealth of information to dig into. We run background checks on all our dentists – looking at criminal/legal records, confirming dentist qualifications and visiting clinics. Together with real patient reviews this gives an overall indication of quality – and the simple rule is that we only list clinics we would be happy to go to ourselves.
Check out the listings for each clinic on our website and compare dentists and prices, with the full knowledge that the dentist you choose is reliable. You will certainly save a substantial amount on one filling, but if you are considering having your old amalgam fillings replaced, either for cosmetic or health reasons, then getting your fillings in Vietnam could be an affordable solution.
The position or size of the tooth will affect how long the filling takes to complete, but most fillings are done within an hour. Back teeth, being larger, may have a number of surfaces to be filled and will, inevitably, take longer that a smaller front tooth.
The treatment isn’t complicated. A local anesthetic is administered to numb the area around the affected tooth. Once this has taken affect, the decayed area on the tooth is drilled out, the area cleaned and the filling applied. Once hardened, the dentist will shape the filling so it feels comfortable. This may entail a little tweaking until it feels right to you.
If one of your back teeth is filled considerably, you may have to have a crown to strengthen it. In these cases, impressions of your teeth are made after the decay is removed and sent to the lab. You will usually have a temporary crown fitted, and return after a few days to have your permanent crown fitted. This is also a quick procedure and should be done in less than an hour.
Dental fillings in Vietnam cost approximately AUD $40, compared to around AUD $199 in Australia.
